In this building was another client of ours; Southern Cross Insurance moving in at the same time, therefore this required project management of multiple sites simultaneously. Meeting the clients required timeline, which was unique in that certain areas had to come online at differing times to others; in a staggered format throughout 9 floors of audio visual technology.
There were specific pieces of technology that were of interest in this project, one being the use of Smart Overlays installed over Panasonic plasma screens. The software remains in a USB dongle that is connected to a floor box in each of the training rooms. This means a visitor can enter any of these rooms, connect and interact with the display without loading any software and compromising the system or having to licence each computer, as the licence was held in the dongle.
A unique piece of technology was as a result of a request by the client to install and commission a large outdoor display on their deck area for the World Cup Rugby. This meant installing a video wall, outside.
In order to protect the video wall from the elements we had to custom build a weatherproof enclosure that was ventilated, plus it had to be of excellent optical quality so as not to interfere with the image.
This was built after the project had been completed which resulted in running fibre underneath the floor all the way from the newly finished deck area to the other end of the building that housed the My Sky decoders, and for audio and for control.
The result was excellent and the client was able to entertain corporate guests for the Rugby Events.
